McInnis Park Golf Academy

McInnis Park Golf Academy is the home of Marin County’s most comprehensive golf training program. Our instructors teach students of all ages and abilities, with curriculums designed for the absolute beginner to someone coming back to the sport after extended time away or injury.

All instructors are Operation 36 certified coaches, an exciting program paving a path for a new way for all to learn to play golf with families in mind. We have PGA professionals, certified master fitters, work with FlightScope and of course, offer the world-class Toptracer experience. We offer private and group lessons, and proudly maintain a low student to teacher ratio in our group classes, to ensure that each student gets the personalized attention they need.

McInnis Park Golf Center has the only covered driving range in Marin County, so our Academy can offer year round instruction, rain or shine, centered around you and your family’s scheduling needs.

Lessons

We offer 30, 45, and 60 minute lesson options for golfers of all ages and abilities. Those seeking instruction on a regular basis may purchase a package to receive some savings. The leftmost bays on the lower range are reserved for instruction, offering a wider and more comfortable space to practice. Whether you are a complete beginner, or someone who plays occasionally and is looking to improve your consistency and scoring average, our professional golf instructors are dedicated to helping you improve, and reach your goals.

If you want to sign up with a friend or 2, we offer group lessons for up to 3 people. On course lessons are offered during the week only and need to be coordinated with your instructor. All lessons come with a complimentary warm up bucket of balls and clubs can be provided. If you are new to our Golf Academy, please arrive early and check in with the Pro Shop so we can show you around.

This 45 minute class is designed for young golfers aged 4-6, eager to learn the fundamentals of the game in a fun and engaging environment…

Drive, Chip & Putt

This 75 minute class is a great option for 6 – 13 year old students that are looking to get started in golf or keep up with their technique.

Junior Operation 36

Help your junior golfer build skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of the game with our 11-week Operation 36 Junior Development Program.

Adult Beginner Series

This 75 minute class is recommended for the absolute beginner who would like instruction covering all aspects of the game.

Adult Operation 36

Inspired by the success of our junior golfers, Operation 36 for Adults 75-minute weekly coaching sessions are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, with a dedicated women’s class on Thursdays.

Instructors

Daniel Stewart, PGA

Director of Instruction

Daniel Stewart was born into a family of avid and professional golfers. He played throughout high school and finished in the top 10 First Tee Open at Pebble Beach his senior year. He attended Santa Rosa Junior College where he was the team captain. He madethe Big 8 All Conference Team, All NorCal Team and went on to play for San Jose State. Daniel’s personal journey inspired him to create a curriculum specifically for high school golfers showing real potential. He is a Class A PGA Professional and an Operation36 Top 50 Coach. Prior to joining McInnis, he was the Head Golf Professional at Sonoma County Fairgrounds Golf Course. When Daniel isn’t golfing, he’s spending time with his family, developing a unique cardio routine focused on chasing a toddler.

Brooks Besson

Golf Instructor

Brooks Besson has been teaching golf for over 15 years. Born in New York but raised in San Rafael, he became an accomplished junior golfer whose playing days ended early after two wrist surgeries. After attending Drexel University his desire to make a career in golf brought him back to the West Coast. Though he rarely plays now due to the injury, he’ll never say no to a bucket list round. Brooks works with all ages/levels of player and enjoys the challenge ofnew player assessment, coaching long ball, faster swing and creating lasting swings. He is also a Callaway Certified Master Club Fitter, Certified FlightScope Professional, Sportsbox 3D Golf level 1 Certified, and was voted Marin’s “Best Golf Instructor”by Pacific Sun Magazine in 2024.

Nick Lovi

Golf Instructor

Nick Lovi has been working in the golf industry for over 20 years. After graduating UC Davis, he managed the Pro Shop at Peacock Gap, which inspired him to continue his education and enroll in the Professional Golf Management Program at Arizona State University. While in Arizona, Nick enriched his golf skills and knowledge working as an Assistant Golf Professional at Phoenix Country Club. Upon his return to the Bay Area, he worked at Fairfax’s beloved Meadow Club, before joining the Academy here at McInnis Park Golf Center in 2018. Nick is most passionate about growing the game and helping beginners enter the sport. He’s also not afraid to hit a 3 iron off the tee when his driver isn’t working. He is an active member of the Sonoma Search & Rescue Team and when Nick’s not on the course, you might be able to see him in the sky, working towards his private pilot’s license.

AJ Harmier

Golf Instructor

For AJ Harmier, golf has been an integral part of his life. His earliest memory of golf is at 2 years old swinging plastic toy golf clubs in his parent’s backyard. After an accomplished junior golf career, and volunteering in junior golf camps, AJ knew thatgolf instruction was his passion and went to New Mexico State to study professional golf management. AJ has been working in the golf industry for more than 10 years. Prior to joining the McInnis Park Golf Academy, AJ was the Assistant Golf Professional at Windsor Golf Club. AJ is passionate about the short game, and how the short game teaches you about every other aspect of the golf swing. When he’s not instructing, AJ likes to still compete in professional events and qualifiers to test his golf game.
